▶️Watch WRC Italy Rally Sardegna LIVE on Red Bull TV:
Join Mark Webber, Mike Chen and Luis Moya on our weekly preview show of WRC 2018! Mike Chen chats with Luis Moya about Rally Portugal, crashes and what to expect from this years Italian rally, while on the other side, Mark Webber has some fun driving a classic rally car through the rough roads of Italy. Now who's having a better time?
Held on the beautiful island of Sardinia, Rally Italy – or Rally Italia Sardegna to give it its full name – is a notoriously tricky event. It was won by VW's Sébastien Ogier in 2013, 2014 and 2015 but 2016 saw Thierry Neuville improve on his promising third-place in 2015 with outright victory in the Hyundai. Estonian driver Ott Tänak claimed glory in the 2017 event, with Finland’s Jari-Matti Latvala in second. Based in historic Alghero, the rally's also one of the most photogenic stops on the world tour, so pack your camera.
Stages
Rugged and sun-baked gravel tracks ensure tough times amid stunning scenery in the north of the Mediterranean holiday island.
Exciting super special stage at the former Ittiri motocross track near host town Alghero kicks off the action on Thursday evening.
Friday features four stages to the north-east that are driven twice for a total of 122.86km. All are familiar and include an extended version of the Tula test.
Saturday is the longest with almost 150km of competition over a tightly-clustered group of three stages in the Monte Acuto region. A revised Ittiri test divides the two identical loops.
Sunday’s finale is unchanged from 2017, featuring two repeated stages covering 42.04km on the coast north of Alghero.
