Nombe - Freak Like Me - Vevo dscvr
NoMBe calls his music “electric soul,” but the word “eclectic” is also an apt definition of his life and career. Noah McBeth grew up in Germany (his musician dad's native home; his fashion model mom is from Brooklyn via Trinidad and Tobago) and came to the US in 2010. In New York he set out to be a filmmaker but soon moved to LA and channeled his creativity into musicmaking. NoMBe cites James Blake, Frank Ocean, and MGMT – plus his godmother, Chaka Khan – as primary influences. His fetching blend of R&B, rock and hip-hop was showcased on his 2015 debut EP, 'Mood Indigo,' and the single “California Girls." In January he announced his debut album, 'They Might've Even Loved Me,' and has released one track a month from the work-in-progress. April's entry, “Can't Catch Me,” was selected by Pharrell Williams as the theme song of his HBO documentary series, 'Outpost'; the super-producer noted that NoMBe “makes music the subconscious with colorful layers and unexpected water slides. He writes and produces dream sequences.” Watch singer and his band steam through "Freak Like Me" at their Vevo dscvr session.
