This is the maiden flight of the old Cub that was dug out of a dusty grave in the back of a garage and given a new chance at life.
The prop I ended up using is an MAS 10x7 Electric. Seemed perfect. The Cub has unlimited vertical and hauls ass when you give it throttle. It is also incredibly docile and well mannered at slow speeds. The dimensions of the ailerons and flaps seems spot on.
I might have to get a couple of extra wings to experiment with but I'm in no hurry because I like her just the way she is (and I have other planes to build!).
And I have to admit, there have been no issues with any of the el cheapo HK parts that are making this plane fly so well. Even the $7.95 receiver is working like a champ. I'll get back to you if any of the parts start to fail. Maybe I should do a follow-up video after 100 flights???
Note: After a few flights, I changed out the Sentry 40 Amp ESC for a Plush 60 Amp. I didn't have any problems with the ESC in this plane but I did smoke the same ESC in another plane of mine that was running the same motor. I think I was pushing the limits of the ESC and I changed it in this plane just to be safe. For what it's worth, I moved the 60amp esc into the fuse because it was too heavy to stay up front in the cowl.
