Quest NASA M.L.A.S. rocket build and launches, and a landing failure!
Quest rocket kit of NASA's MLAS (Max Launch Abort System)
They call this a skill level 3 kit, I found it very easy, painting is always the part that I dont enjoy.
The decals are water slide and look good. Manual was good. I used foam safe CA and kicker to build the whole thing, manual says to use wood glue, that takes too long for me.
The recommended engine was bad, as you can see in the first launch the delay is way too much for this stubby rocket. I switched to a B6-2 and its perfect for this thing!
Use alot of packing/wading! With its wide body there is alot of area to fill. Ive since found out that crepe paper is fire resistant and its cheap, so I have a roll of that to use from now on.
Im happy with the rocket, it looks different than all the cookie cutter ones you can buy these days, rockets seem to have lost the style they had years ago. Not to be hating on arfs, (I have one), but were in an instant gratification world now, so everything you buy ( rockets, rc airplanes, etc ) are the same as everyone elses.
Look forward to a few more launches, then itll probably hang from the ceiling in my sons room until he is older.
