/ We're up at about 12,000 feet here on the Schilthorn Mountain in Switzerland at the back of Lauterbrunnen Valley, one of the world's great spots.. They have snow all year round on the glacier. A large outdoor terrace provides an excellent vantage to look back across the valley at the three great peaks, the Jungfrau, Mönch and Eiger, whose complete forms can be seen better from this distance than close-up. Then cap it off with a drink in the Crystal Lounge and imagine watching James Bond in the frantic chase scene from On Her Majesty's Secret Service, filmed here in 1969. On a clear day like this, you've got the sunny highlights and the dramatic clouds in the background, beautiful peaks and valleys all covered in snow. You change cable cars in the villages of Murren and Gimmelwald along the way, gaining different perspectives on the mountains as you travel. Or, you could take your time on this route with a beautiful half-hour stroll from Murren down to Gimmelwald and catch the cable car down from there, one of the best easy hikes ever.
