Just a piece of RC history from the 1960s.
This is an OS Pixie single-channel super-regen system. These were 27MHz systems which used a crystal-controlled transmitter but the super-regen receivers were manually "tuned" to the transmitter frequency. Unfortunately, the tuning was so broad that you could only fly one system at a time, even if the transmitters were on different frequencies.
There were no servos -- we used escapements which were simple rubber-powered devices that used an electromagnet to control the rotation of a disk that was then hooked up to an arm that operated the pushrod.
Single-channel usually meant rudder-only, although t have the sequential "quick blip" throttle escapement as well which allows you to have 3-position throttle setting that cycles from low-med-high and back again.
This was "state of the art" stuff some 50 years ago and if you were to translate the price into today's money, they were far more expensive than a radio like the Turnigy 9X.
If you've got any questions, or would like to see more of my vintage RC gear, just leave a comment.
