In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew speaks with Zenon Dragan, the founder and president of Draganfly, about the company's long history and upcoming products in the field of multirotor drones. In 1999, the company started selling the Draganflyer 2, a quadcopter with a gyro-only flight control system that relied on thermal sensors to identify the horizon and help maintain level flight. In 2001, the Draganflyer 2 was first equipped with a camera and the company started down the path towards the development of the modern drone. One of its platforms, the Draganflyer X4-ES is on display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, recognized as the first drone to save a life. At AUVSI Xponential 2016, the company displayed the Draganflyer Commander, a lightweight, foldable quadcopter with interchangeable payloads for use in professional applications.
