See The 10 Best HDMI Cables on Ezvid Wiki ►►
Fact #1. HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface. It is the first uncompressed, all-digital interface designed to carry audio and video simultaneously. HDMI is backwards compatible with the Digital Video Interface. That was originally designed to maximize the quality of older flat panel LCD monitors.
Fact #2. It is the standard cable for use with most modern high-definition goods. These include televisions, Blu-ray players, digital video recorders, new computers, and video cards. These cables plug into hardware in much the same way USB cables do. They offer plug-and-play operation. That means they deliver the highest quality signal with minimal effort during the setup process.
Fact #3. The interface was developed as a collaborative effort. Hitachi, Philips, Sony, RCA, and Toshiba were all involved in creating it. The protocol it uses, however, was not. HDCP, or High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection, was developed by Intel.
Fact #4. The standard was developed and released over the course of 2002. In 2004, it became capable of delivering DVD audio. 2005 saw the inclusion of personal computer support. One of its biggest years was 2006, which saw increased bandwidth and bitrate, 3D video support, automatic lip sync, and a new mini-connector. That last made it useful for digital cameras. In 2009, ethernet capabilities were integrated. 2013 saw support for 4K video in the 2.0 release. In 2015, the cables began to support HDR video.
Fact #5. Every home-theater device has identification and encryption data stored inside it. A source device encodes its own information with a unique authentication key. The receiving device then decodes using the same information. The source device validates the authentication key for the receiving device. This allows the cable's audio and video signals to be displayed on your TV. This process is referred to as a handshake. The handshake takes place inside of the cable continuously. That means if something changes, it can stop transmitting.
