A look at what has arrived in the mailbag in the way of FPV gear to be reviewed very soon.
The DragonLink long-range UHF RC system has arrived and it certainly looks to be a more substantial product than the RMILEC unit I reviewed earlier. It will go on the bench very soon and then (as soon as I can fly again) it will get some air-time.
I have also received the Orange Open LRS system and will be looking at that to see if something this cheap really can provide a reliable long-range RC link for your FPV models.
If you are using 433MHz for your RC frequency then you have the option of using 2.4GHz for your video. To see what's involved and what sort of performance you can expect, I purchased the HobbyKing 100mW 2.4GHz FPV video system and will be trying it out. Included in these tests will be one of those cheap 18dBi yagi antennas. Do they really have 18dBi of gain? How far will one of these get you with a 100mW video transmitter.
And yes, I finally managed to eradicate the fly!
(no, it didn't have a white head and wasn't crying "help me, help me" -- I do those experiments in a different laboratory ;-)
