These 250 class quadcopters are similar in appearance, but different in flight performance. Let's go for a flight of each Find the Walkera Runner 250 here , and find the Eachine Racer 250 (without monitor) here
Neither of these quadcopters are appropriate for beginner fliers. They are just not meant as "learn to fly" quadcopters. Fliers should have previous flying experience, and should be proficient in both forward translational flying, and capable of maintaining orientation by quadcopter movement alone.
Walkera Runner 250
- Flight control board is configurable with MultiWii software. Good flier out of the box for new FPV fliers (not for beginner fliers). PID's can be tweaked for more agressive flying if desired.
- Includes Stabilized, Horizon (stabilized but without bank or pitch angle restrictions), and Full Acro modes (no stabilization, no angle restrictions). Stabilized mode is relatively gentle for beginner FPV fliers.
- Very good control and FPV video range (hundreds of meters).
- Requires FAA registration as it is over 250 grams.
- Body can break in a hard crash. But replacement parts are widely available and relatively inexpensive.
- Propellers very tough, and can withstand relatively hard crashes.
Eachine Racer 250
- Flight control board is configurable with OpenPilot or LibrePilot software. Erratic flier in stabilized mode with the stock "out of the box" PID settings. Requires fine tuning of PID settings to achieve suitable stability.
- Includes Stabilized, Horizon (stabilized but without bank or pitch angle restrictions), and Full Acro modes (no stabilization, no angle restrictions). Stabilized mode is somewhat erratic, and requires close attention.
- Also very good control and FPV video range (hundreds oof meters).
- Requires FAA registration (over 250 grams).
- Body VERY tough. Can usually withstand hard crashes into dirt or grass (not true for concrete or asphalt).
- Stock propellers very fragile, and will break with minor crashes.
