Thinking of trying FPV racing? This speedy micro with large 1020 motors would make a great and safe starter/practice FPV racer. Buy BNF version here and buy the RTF version here
Liked this one so much that I did a second review flight. This may be one of the fastest micro FPV fliers. It actually feels like you're flying a much larger racer due to its abnormally large (for a micro) brushed motors. Being small and light, it can be safely flown in most parks or backyards (something that you wouldn't want to do with larger racers). But wouldn't recommend this for beginner fliers as it will break in too many high speed crashes. If you're new to quadcopters, do yourself a favor and start with a cheap and durable toy grade quad to learn the basics, such as Syma X5C.
Pros
- Large 1020 brushed motors provide plenty of power. They make this very maneuverable and fast for a little quadcopter.
- Relatively long flight time for a FPV micro quadcopter at up to 5 1/2 minutes.
- Built-in On Screen Display (OSD). You can configure many of the Betaflight settings (including PIDs) using the OSD. This allows you to easily fine tune it out in the field! Here's how
- Available versions include ARF DSM/Frsky/Flysky (AFHDS2A), and RTF (Flysky only).
- Powered by commonly available 3.7V 600mah LiPo with white Losi connector. Widely available and cheap.
- Omnibus F3 FCB loaded with Betaflight 3.0.1
- 600 TVL camera with 25 mW 48 Channel NTSC/PAL FPV transmitter. Can be easily tilted up or down to improve view.
- Buzzer and VBAT detector for low batt warning.
- Carbon fiberglass structure.
- Includes spare battery and two spare motors. Motors are slidein/plugin, and easily replaceable in less than thirty seconds.
- Suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
- Does not require FAA registration.
Cons
- I had problems configuring some Betaflight 3.0.1 mode switch settings in Betaflight. Although I would save my settings, they would work for one flight, then would reset back to the original stock settings. I then tried Cleanflight to configure the switch settings, and that seemed to correct the issue.
- Early flight control boards for this model were not properly designed to account for the additional power requirements of its large motors. Some folks have reported failure of FET transistors after crashes. Banggood is aware of this issue, and is having the control board redesigned . Replacement boards are being provided by the vendor for those who have burned out a FET. Hopefully updated boards that correct this issue will soon be available for future purchases of this quadcopter.
