In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew catches up with Jeff Fassbinder and Trent Siggard from leading drone manufacturer Yuneec about the company's latest product: the Breeze selfie drone. Directed by means of an Android or iOS smart device, the Breeze incorporates a control scheme specifically developed for the non-pilot: using sliders that determine its altitude, distance, camera pitch and position relative to the operator. There is also a conventional stick-type input for more experienced pilots. The Breeze employs an infrared sensor for precise altitude measurement, an optical flow sensor for low-altitude position hold, and a GPS receiver for position hold and smart mode maneuvering. The one-axis gimbal makes use of digital image stabilization to provide for a steady image without the mechanical complexity of a conventional three-axis gimbal. Designed with the avid selfie photographer in mind, the app also includes sharing features with popular social media platforms.
