If you want to build your own FPV backpack, here is where you start and in part one I look at the importance of having a good soldering iron, solder and soldering technique.
While it's not essential that you spend $100 on a Hakko FX888 setup, it is important that you get an iron of around 30W which has a relatively small tip (say 1/16th" or 1.6mm) in diameter at the tip.
Use good quality flux-cored 60/40 or 63/37 lead/tin solder and for a start, just practice tinning some copper wire as I show in this video.
The next step will be building the circularly polarized antennas for the backpack and this will require you to do a little soldering -- so remember - practice makes perfect!
