A youtube fan and subscriber of mine who has Cystic Fibrosis, Scott Marcella, has recently reached out to me about helping him spread the word about cystic fibrosis through a project he is working on called Plus 37 Research
Cystic fibrosis is an life-threatening genetic disease affecting mainly the digestive and respiratory systems in around 30,000 people in the United States and only 70,000 worldwide. There is no cure for this disease, and the median life expectancy for patients today is just 37 years. Though this is a very young age, it is a vast improvement from times when children would not make it out of elementary school. Over the last 50+ years, there has been huge advances in the development of treatments and medicines to help these patients, but there is still a long way to go in finding a permanent cure for all CF patients.
Plus 37, which represents the determination to increase and live past the current median life expectancy of 37, is a charitable t-shirt business that donates its profits to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to aid in research efforts for a cure. Scott's goal is to ultimately raise a massive amount of money and tons of awareness for cystic fibrosis through this brand, while also producing a cool product that people will want to wear regardless.
