This folding GPS drone includes a camera capable of taking 2K video and 4K still photos. Find it here
Pros
- GPS satellite positioning, enables automatic position hovering, and automatic return to home and landing on command, loss of signal, and low battery.
- Camera is capable of taking 2K video (2048 x 1080 pixels at 25 fps), and 4K still photos (4096 x 3072 pixels). Video and photos are recorded directly to an onboard micro SD card to eliminate frozen or dropped frames in video. The camera also includes a remotely operated lens that can be smoothly and remotely aimed up or down.
- The drone can be flown without the app using its controller only if desired. The camera can still be used and controlled recording via its controller. The controller includes an LCD screen for viewing telemetry information without the app, and also includes a compass rose for viewing the drone's heading (aids in maintaining orientation at distance). The controller also includes buttons for controlling orbit, headless mode, and rates. And finally, the controller enables long distance line of sight flying (I easily flew the drone past 500 meters).
- Brushless 1806 motors.
- Optical flow sensor for automatic hovering without use of GPS.
- 11.1V 1800mah battery provides up to 25 minutes flight time in hover. I only got 14 minutes, but I was flying on a windy day (causes extra drain on the battery).
- To save battery power, the drone's WiFi will automatically turn off if you take excessive time to connect to the app (about 5 minutes).
- FPV video reception and advanced flight features of follow me, orbit position, waypoints, and gesture control are available through the Lula RC app (Android here or iOS here ).
Cons
- Some video jello was apparent.
- Requires 802.11ac WiFi capability on your phone to be able to use the app for advanced flight features. Not everyone has this type of WiFi on their phone. Before purchasing, it is important to first check that your phone is indeed capable of 802.11ac WiFi.
- Short FPV range. I only was able to receive FPV out to about 100 meters. The app did not automatically reacquire FPV once flown back into range. This happened because the WiFi automatically turns off to save power if the app is not connected for an extended period. As such, I needed to restart the drone, reconnect the WiFi, and reopen the app in order to regain FPV.
- Electronic video stabilization is available through your phone using the app. However, this requires newer phones with high performance processors for satisfactory performance. Older phones may experience severe lag (delay) in FPV video if the app's electronic stabilization is activated.
