The micro FPV transmitter and receiver for RC planes and multirotors from HobbyKing doesn't quite deliver the power levels promised but it does work.
Based on the tests undertaken, the transmitter puts out about 20mW and gives an acceptable image up to about 250 yards or so. A better receiver antenna would help this significantly so a patch would be a great idea.
For a micro-sized model this is one of the cheapest and lightest ways to fit FPV - but don't waste your money on those cheap eBay microcameras. As you can see, the quality is awful!
Pro's:
- lightweight
- simple
- runs from 3V through 5V (but 3.3V seems optimum)
Con's:
- stiff plastic wiring
- no simple frequency change
- limited range (but probably adequate for ultra-small craft)
- default frequency not legal
- cheap
Bottom line:
If you're willing to break out your soldering iron and do some wiring then this system will work and you'll likely have hours of fun playing around with it. You will need to find a decent micro-camera though, and they aren't cheap.
