These guys put a lot of work into the show and into entertaining ALL OF US! So - today we get to unbox 3 new trail trucks for them. These are all 1/8 in scale size to a "full size". I think that 1/8 scale trucks are the next "big thing" in the scale world.. as they certainly offer more opportunity on the trail. A larger stance, and a higher profile make these truck very formidable on the back roads. This is the future of Radio Control scale trail trucking. A whole new world of manufacturing, and companies. Home based business's and expanded scale parts! all 1/8 scale.. I can see it now :)
Here is a LINK to the Traction Hobby page on Asia Tees. I got these trucks on a site called "ATees.com", and I have shopped here many times. Here is a link for the JEEP specifically (I shortened the link):
PRODUCT INFORMATION:
"Welcome to the 1/8 Cragsman crawler RTR.
Are you up for something new and unique? Will this 1/8 crawler change the game? Traction Hobby sets out to produce something the RC crawling world hasn't seen - a 1/8 sized crawler, larger than almost all scale crawlers in the market today. Their vision is to create a new category for scale crawling and even racing.
Comparing to its predecessor 1/8 Founder Jeep, the chassis rails are now 1.2mm thick steel for strength and to keep it lightweight. A few parts have been redesigned and changed to strong plastic to keep the weight low and with a lower price point. The new Cragsman uses a chassis mounted servo design (CMS) instead of axle mounted. It has a massive 83mm skid plate clearance with a wheelbase of 374mm and the axle clearance is 45mm.
Let's have a look at the highlight features of the 1/8 Cragsman.
Aluminum Axles
The axle housings come standard in aluminum. The front and rear axles come out of two separate molds (read on to see why). It has plastic lockouts, C-hubs and knuckles which help reduce the weight of this beast. The C-hub and knuckle design have a 8 degree caster and an impressive 45 degree steering angle.
Open/Lock Diffs
This new version comes standard with metal front and rear independent locking diffs, giving you the flexibility to choose which one to lock just by flicking an independent switch for each diff on the transmitter. This means that there is a switch for each lockable diff, not one switch for both diffs.
Transmission Gear Box, Counter-Rotation Transfer Case
2-Speed Transmission, 2WD/4WD Selection
The main gearbox features a two speed transmission for Hi or Low gear selected by turning a knob on the 6-channel transmitter. On the transfer box it you can go 2WD or 4WD turning a button on the transmitter.
Drivelines, Links and Shocks
The links are made out of 7mm stainless steel with an M5 thread for the ball ends for extra strength; the lower links are high clearance links. The front drive shafts are CVD and the front and rear drive shafts are made out of hardened steel for extra strength and durability. To help with flexing its wheels it is fitted with some 110mm aluminum adjustable big bore 2 stage coils over shocks.
Wheels & Tires
It comes with a licensed ProComp 2.2 wheel/rim that is molded plastic and is a glue on wheel. The ProComp wheel do not come glued to the tires which you can save the tires for optional beadlocks. The stock tires are soft, which should do well on many different terrains. A fifth spare tire is included, same as the running tires.
For scale accessories, it comes with metal window guards and a snorkel with real metal sheet at the air in-take.
Radio
It comes with a 6-channel radio system that controls all these new features, including 2WD/4WD option, front and rear open/lock diffs, 2-Speed transmission, steering and throttle.
